Alien Headband – Free Crochet Pattern

This week is Homecoming week in our small Texas town and that means activities and traditions galore. To start off it’s spirit week at the schools whi h means fun dress up themes for this kids each day. Monday was ‘Out of This World’ day which you wouldn’t think would be a problem for this space loving family. Unfortunatley costumes are a big no no at the schools, which I get but it’s still weird. So we had to come up with something a little more subtle to go with one of Audens existing space shirts. This was our solution.

What I really like about this headband is there are so many possibilities! I asked Auden what color he would like for the alien and how many eyes and that is how we came to our three eyed, green alien but you could have a one eyed purple alien or a blue alien with horns or a rainbow alien with tentacles and a bow tie. The possibilities for this design are truly endless!

I attached these centered on the eyes, but you could play with the placement for some fun variations.

Headband (In Green or Main Color)
This part will depend on your headband and guage. Below is what worked for me but you may find you need to add or remove a stitch depending on the width of your headband or how tight your stitches are.

Row 1: Create a magic circle, CH 1 and SC 6 into the circle then pull tight. You may also use a CH 2 and 6 SC into the first chain then pull tight. Do not join. (6)
Rows 2-65: SC 6 (6)
Row 66:SC 6, SLST to the next stitch and finish off leaving a long tail for sewing. Fit the piece onto the headband and using a whipstitch close the end.

Assemble by sewing on the eyes to the headband. Mine were placed between rows 25-28, 33-36, and 40-44 but they can be placed wherever you like them best.
